The Oakstones Club
Lady Ann Hoskyns, one of the club's founders, was Chairman for 34 years and still attends meetings each month as a member.
The club was founded in 1959 and we shall celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2009. The club is for Over-Fifties and meets once a month in the village hall at 2.15p.m. on the first Wednesday. Members come from Stones Green, Little Oakley and Dovercourt as well as from the village itself.
We hold two outings each year and an annual Coffee Morning to increase our funds.
Each April the club hosts a Cribbage Tournament in the Village Hall in conjunction with Age Concern Essex. Players from other clubs all over Essex send teams and the winners are awarded the Great Oakley Rose Bowl. The tournament has been running for 46 years.
We're always pleased to welcome new members,
